1st Attempt on Pendulum and ball bouncing

This is my first attempt. Critiques please.

P.S.: Can anybody tell me how do I upload videos in the quicktime format?

  1. I feel really honored that you used my ball bounce Idea. I warn you. It is very tough to do it correctly. Of course, you have probably already found that out. The rolling towards the end is not quite right. It is moving too fast for it to be rolling. It would still be bouncing at that speed. Try slowing it down in the end there. It might not roll all the way across the paddle before rolling back. as for the pendulum, its hard to tell because I can't slow it down but I think you need to push the S-curve a little further. Remember the drag.

P.S.R.: When you are making a new post, there is a "clapper" icon above the area you write. If you click it, it will ask what video you want to upload.

  2. Oh come on! No idea is exclusive... :P

As for the animation I think I should just stop making it roll and keep it bouncing. But I still have to work on the pendulum, somewhere in the middle the speed is not right and I need to fix it.

    Thanks for the comments :)

[I tried the clapper thing it just uploads the video on google videos]

  3. ha! neither of you are fully original here...I've seen these before :) - just goes to show...it's often more about the execution and implementation of an idea than the concept.

I do applaud both of you for the ambition. Saberi..you get some of the same critique as Nathan...this is a tough challenge. I'd start off at this point by focussing on the platform and ball, and go back and refine the pendulum after. Right now, the overall mechanics are pretty good, but things are either too fast in parts or too slow. one one of the balls middle bounces for example. I'm realizing it's hard to go in and critique google videos. An alternative (which I should have mentioned) is to upload your stuff to vimeo as an .mp4...then anyone can download it (anyone being me) and frame by frame it. Once it's on vimeo, just grab the 'embed' code.

also, at the end, keep some residual settle on the platform. and be mindful of how long it takes for the final settle on the pendulum. maybe take out a swing or 2 and have it settle slower.
