Thanks for sharing Jeff! I recall Ed Gutierrez showed this in class once and said "The real animation happens in the breakdowns, not in the keys!" I always notice since - how the personality is affected with just a slight variation in breakdowns...say for instance Hogarth's slightly noodley wrists, or how close he brings his hands to his face in the runcycle
I agree with that. I'd probably refine that to say that the better the animation, the more powerful the breakdowns are. That being said. It's much easier to animate from a strong pose to another strong pose.
